Many of us, from time to time, feel unbalanced in our life. Perhaps your work-life isn't feeling particularly exciting, or you're having trouble in your relationships, or just feeling less joy in activities that used to spark inspiration for you. In these moments we can often take on an "all or nothing" attitude and assume that our entire life must be dysfunctional. Sometimes it is hard to pinpoint which area of our life is feeling the most draining which can prevent us from knowing where we want to focus to make positive changes.

Take a look at your own life and think:

Where am I feeling the most joy in life?

Where am I constantly feeling drained of energy and inspiration?

In my work with clients I often like to ask them to complete a simple exercise called "The Wheel of Life". This simple exercise asks you to rate how you are feeling in 8 different categories of life:

1) Finances

2) Health

3) Family Relationships

4) Friends

5) Romance

6) Personal Development

7) Fun and Recreation

8) Spiritual Health or Contributions to society

9) Business and Career

This simple exercise is an easy way to assess where your life is feeling right on track and where things might be going a little less perfect than you would hope. It has proven a very effective tool for my therapy and coaching clients when they feel unable to articulate just what it is that feels off for them.

The truth is, we all have balance in our lives, sometimes that balance just shifts a bit. Think about using this tool in your own self assessment, or before your next coaching/therapy session.
